This year’s Tesla Summer Update doesn’t disappoint once again. The feature-packed 2026 Summer Update is now out to Tesla vehicles globally (check detailed rollout status below).
Tesla (TSLA) releases seasonal software updates like the Spring, Summer, and Holiday Season every year. These are free-of-charge over-the-air (OTA) software updates available to Tesla’s global fleet of cars (some features may vary by region/country).
Tesla initially released this year’s Summer Update with firmware version 2026.26. However, a few days later, Tesla rolled out the point release version 2026.26.1, which is basically a bug-fix and security improvements update.
Like the 2026 Spring Update, the tech & AI-based electric vehicle-maker has kept the Hedgehog mascot for the 2026 Summer Update as well.
The SpaceX-owned Grok AI assistant for Tesla vehicles has gained more capabilities in the 2026 Summer Update. It can make phone calls, search and play music, adjust climate, open the glovebox, and answer questions about your Tesla.
Other features include locking the rear screen for parental controls, multiple navigation improvements, infotainment features, and the Self-Driving Stats app on the Tesla mobile app (check out official release notes below for details).

2026 Tesla Summer Update (2026.26 and 2026.26.1): Rollout Status & Availability
Tesla’s 2026 Summer Software Update was first spotted on 26th July. However, initially, the rollout was slow in the first week.
The first build of the 2026 Summer Update was rolled out with the 2026.26 firmware version. This was replaced with the newer 2026.26.1 point release build, which is now installed on the majority of Tesla cars that have the Summer Update.
The initial 2026.26 build is now phasing out in favor of the new 2026.26.1 point release with security and bug fixes.
According to software tracking statistics data by TeslaFi.com and Tessie.com, the 2026 Tesla Summer Update is now installed on 15-20% of the Tesla fleet.
The 2026 Summer Update is available to all Tesla vehicles globally. However, some Tesla owners have reported that their Tesla HW3 cars installed with FSD v14 Lite haven’t yet received the Summer Update.
Likewise, Tesla HW4 vehicles running on FSD v14.3 and its subversions also haven’t received the update yet. Tesla will soon merge the firmwares and deploy the Summer Update to these vehicles.
