As of this writing, just a few hours ago, Tesla’s Head of AI, Ashok Elluswamy, announced that the automaker has started the rollout of FSD v14 Lite for Hardware 3 (HW3) cars.
FSD v14 Lite’s first installment has been deployed with the firmware version 2026.20.5.1 (see official Release Notes below). Owners of the now-legacy HW3 cars have been waiting to get FSD v14 for the last year.
However, he still had some good news for these folks: Tesla is working to roll out a trimmed-down version of Supervised Full Self-Driving V14, called FSD v14 Lite. The launch schedule was set for June. The Tesla AI team has burnt some serious midnight oil to start the rollout at the end of the month.
Ashok posted on X, saying:
FSD v14 Lite is now rolling out to AI3 early-access customers. Based on the feedback, will rollout to more customers over the next few weeks.
This build distills the driving behavior from AI4’s v14 series into both the camera and compute config of AI3. It includes destination options and speed profiles on city roads, but more importantly significantly improved safety.

We hope you’ll enjoy it, once the build ships wide.
FSD v14 Lite Rollout Status
As the head of the Tesla AI team has confirmed, the initial rollout of FSD v14 Lite is only going out to the Early Access Group. This is a group of Tesla influencers and experienced careful drivers who provide valuable data with maximum safety.
As the rollout is just a few hours old as of this writing, it’s hard to know how many Tesla owners have received the highly anticipated FSD v14 Lite update.
The update will go wide release in the coming weeks, and most probably to users in Europe and Australia as well, because FSD v14 has already been launched in these regions.
Stay tuned as we provide further updates and reviews of FSD v14 Lite.

Official Release Notes: FSD (Supervised) v14 Lite (for HW3 Tesla cars)
FSD (Supervised) v14 Lite (2026.20.5.1) includes:
Distilled the intelligence from HW4 V14 into HW3. This allows HW3 to directly learn how to handle scenarios using HW4 V14 as a guide. This process unlocks the improvements that have been made to HW4 including Reinforcement Learning (RL) and offline models for HW3.
Improved both proactive and reactive responsiveness across a wide variety of categories including navigation handling, merges and forks, pedestrian interactions, traffic lights, and vehicle cut-in scenarios.
Improved general comfort in nominal scenarios through fewer false slowdowns, smoother steering and more consistent lane centering.
Introduced parking, unparking, and reversing capabilities.
Added Arrival options for you to select where FSD should park: in a Parking Lot, on the Street, in a Driveway, or at the Curbside.
Speed Profiles are now available at all times, to further customize driving style preferences.
