Tesla Model 3 Ludicrous — the performance variant of the nimble and agile electric car is expected to be launched soon.
A few images surfaced online first on Chinese social media, then on Reddit, and then X (Twitter) today. These images are from a Tesla showroom. The conference room of this Tesla Store has a covered Model 3 Ludicrous parked in front of seats — ready for a presentation.
According to rumors and speculation by the Tesla Community, the automaker is preparing the vehicle to be shown to Tesla (TSLA) investors.
So, how do we conclude that it’s a Ludicrous Model 3 Highland? First and foremost, Tesla has no other vehicle that needs to be covered from the eyes of a camera. The second reason, if you take a closer look at the image above, the vehicle’s cover from the rear side is lifted a bit — showing the performance variant wheel.
This new Model 3 Highland Ludicrious wheel design appeared in the vehicle’s official parts catalog last year. But as its images leaked, Tesla removed every trace of it from the parts catalog.
Six more Model 3 Ludicrous are seen (covered) in another picture of this Tesla showroom’s parking lot. Since the original poster is hiding his/her identity, there are no explicit details of the event. We can use guesswork and hints to put the pieces of the puzzle together.
One more interesting part in the 1st leaked image above is that Tesla has also put a piece of cloth on an object placed on the table positioned on the side of the Model 3. Only Tesla staff knows what this mysterious object is.
The location of the Tesla Model 3 Ludicrous is most probably a Tesla showroom in California. If we take a closer look at the above image, the Lexus vehicle on the far left has a California license plate.
According to folks on in the Reddit discussion thread on these pictures, Tesla could launch the new Model 3 Highland Ludicrous performance variant as soon as tomorrow.
I think, at most, the launch will take a few more weeks because these cars seem to be ready. Tesla has already set up the Ludicrous Model 3 in its online car configurator’s backend code which also revealed some specs of the vehicle earlier this month.
Tesla will update its car configurator in regions where it will launch the new Model 3 Ludicrous. It will be available in China, Europe, the United States, and Canada first as history suggests.
Some more features of the vehicle were leaked through a short video posted on X by a Tesla employee. When I posted my article on this video on X (Twitter), the social media platform blocked my post and asked me to remove it to get unlocked (I did remove it ultimately).
However, X (owned by Tesla CEO Elon Musk) hasn’t removed these images from the platform yet. So, I hope this is ok with Tesla and the launch is so close that these pictures don’t hurt the automaker.
Simultaneously, a Tesla Model 3 Ludicrous was spotted with a Texas Manufacturer’s license plate. These pictures also appeared on Chinese social media but have now been removed by the user (perhaps at the request of the automaker’s Chinese arm in Giga Shanghai).
