The Tesla Community often rejects unofficial design concepts from artists attempting to present their ideas for the next Tesla vehicle. But this time, it looks like a successful attempt at convincing Tesla enthusiasts that this new render is a worthy contender to be the design refreshed Tesla Model S 2.0.
Tesla Model S was the first full-throttle production car Tesla had launched in 2012, the first wave of the electric vehicle revolution. Since then, the design of the Model S did not go through a major overhaul, despite minor tweaks to the front fascia, etc.
Although Tesla started taking pre-orders for the Plaid Tesla Model S back in October, the automaker did not disclose what design changes will accompany the Model S 2.0.
For the Tri-Motor Plaid Model S, Tesla’s online configurator is giving ‘late 2021’ as the estimated delivery time — this can’t be just 3 motors and an enhanced 0-60 performance. Tesla will most probably be making design changes to the Plaid Model S hat will ultimately trickle down to the rest of the variants as well.
Tesla also gave the 2021 Tesla Model 3 a design refresh this year. But since the Model S is more outdated, this next design refresh might be way more extensive, just like the render we see below.
This new artist render wins the hearts of the Tesla Model S Plaid reservation holders. Paying $48k on top of the current Model S Performance price should be justified with a closer or even better design refresh than the one we see above.
Hopefully, Tesla Chief Designer Franz von Holzhausen would be looking into these developments and smiling like a boss, he might have designed something even better.
This sort of sleek design coupled with the sub 2.0 second 0-60 mph time and the new 4680 cells with structural battery pack for the Model S would instill more fear into the hearts of the competing auto manufacturers.
